UNIT K STOCK FOOTAGE!

After a heated consultation with our Chief Financial Officer, Detonation Films has expanded into a new, larger facility. (Actually, what she said was: "I don't care what it costs, get that blasted crane out of the garage so I can park my car!")

However, this new facility -- known only as Unit K -- is allowing us to do many things we only dreamed of before. Like get the camera back far enough to keep shots in frame. :-)

Unit K stock footage will be noticably different than our usual stock footage. We are exporting it in higher-resolution JPEG-A format and it should be cleaner and easier to use.

However, unlike the garage, Unit K costs us money, so if we can get the place to more-or-less pay for itself that would make things a lot easier. Therefore, along with the free stuff, we will be posting additional clips (usually just additional takes of the free clips, for those who want a wider selection) which can be individually purchased via Paypal at a dirt-cheap price and delivered to you electronically within hours. For those who prefer disks, those will be offered as well!

HEMOSTOCK

Bob swore up and down for years that we'd never, ever do blood stock footage because he thought it was disgusting. And besides, it was almost impossible to key against a greenscreen. But he's been outvoted, the wuss. And after a great deal of extremely messy research, we have come up with what we believe is an acceptable blood stock footage that is quick and easy to use.

It has been shot against white, which means you should be able to use your MULTIPLY transparency key to get a good blood effect without staining the carpets. (In After Effects, try the EXTRACT key, set on Inverse.) You can increase the opacity by doing two identical layers, one on top of the other, if you want the color darker. Depending on your shot, you may need to work on your motion-tracking skills to use this properly. Gore up!

NOTE TO FINAL CUT PRO USERS:
The latest version of FCP has a glitch that causes a black line to appear around resized "Multiply" transparencies.
To fix this use the Unsharp Mask in the Sharpen effects folder, combined with a bit of crop and edge feather. (Double click on the clip to bring it up in the Viewer window, select the Motion tab, select Crop)
Other programs and earlier versions of FCP simply need an occasional touch of edge feather.

EXPLODING STYROFOAM HEADS

Words cannot express my appreciation for this amazing
footage being offered to us poor suckahs at reasonable

throat-slash scene that was rigged with an anemic
amount of practical blood-pumping when the director
