DETONATION FILMS -- THE EARLY YEARS This is some of our earliest footage. Not our best, but it's good for practice, and it's free! Photo-JPG Quicktime format. Scroll to the bottom for the download link. |
NOTE: Generally speaking, you should use a "SCREEN" compositing mode for black background footage and a "Bluescreen/Greenscreen" key for any blue or green background footage that has smoke. (Do NOT use "Chroma" for smoke!)

Black smoke stock slowed and laid against a JPG background plate using the "Greenscreen" and "Motion" tools. SFX always help give such scenes a kick. |
FILTHY FIRE Because sometimes villains fight dirty.
SMOKE Stock smoke is extremely useful but because smoke moves slowly, the complete files are much larger than our server space will support. We have posted the following short clips in the hope they will prove useful.
AIRBURSTS -- Use the "bluescreen" and "motion" tools for compositing.
FIREBURSTS Use the "screen" transparency for compositing.
FIREBALLS AGAINST BLACK Use the "screen" transparency for compositing.
FIRE!
BURNING DEBRIS Surprisingly useful.
Thank you so much for the FX that you have supplied. I could not believe my eyes when I
came upon your website.
You have given hope to myself and surely thousands more low budget film makers. This is going to revolutionize my films.
Once again I want to say thank you.
